
Revolutionizing Signaling Diagrams: From Manual Maintenance to Automation with MSC
With over 20 years of experience in the telecom industry, creating and maintaining signaling diagrams has been an integral part of my work. Traditionally, tools like Microsoft Visio and other drawing applications were the go-to for this task. While these tools allowed us to produce detailed visual representations, maintaining the diagrams over time proved to be tedious and time-consuming, especially as network designs evolved.

What is MSC?
At its core, MSC (Message Sequence Chart) is a method that parses text descriptions of signaling or message flows and generates a graphical representation as output. Instead of manually dragging and aligning shapes in a traditional drawing tool, you write a simple text script to define the message interactions. For example:

Alice --> Bob: 200 OK
This straightforward script is then transformed into a clean, professional graphical diagram that can be seamlessly integrated into design documents, technical presentations, and other materials.
